You are summoned to Jury Duty!

This unit, created in conjunction with Professor Joe O’ Brien at the University of Kansas, allows students to serve on a jury with their classmates. Designed for 7th-12th graders, students will read the case, watch the testimonies, and work together to determine whether David Jones is guilty or not guilty of Grand Larceny against his business partner, Jane Kennedy.

Students take the lead to come to a consensus.

“This project allows students to take the lead and learn how to communicate, professionally disagree, and come to an agreement while learning a critical real-life skill.”

- Tom Herndon, Middle School ELA Teacher.
